Seo Glossary 2 - Below are common glossary terms used in SEO marketing. 2
Website Optimization Terms - continued
E. Internal Pages – these are the
webpage names associated with your
domain name for example: (3 of them)
http://www.riselikeaphoenix.com/archangelraguelmessageoctober16th2005.htm
http://www.riselikeaphoenix.com/mothermarydecember16th2005.htm
http://www.riselikeaphoenix.com/archangelraphaeljanuary16th2006.htm
They are also known as file extensions from your home page.
G. Ranking - this is the position of your
website when you search for something.
For example, if you type “prayer link” into Google, one of my
websites
www.globalprayerlink.org.uk will appear in 1st position out of 5
million
websites. If you type “rise like a phoenix” into Google,
www.riselikeaphoenix.com
will appear in 1st position out of 1.5 million and if you
type in “music visionary” into
Google,
www.musicvisionary.com/ will appear in 1st position out of 1.5
million.
H. Backlinks – These are website links
that point (back) to your website from other
websites. The more you have the better. For example if 100 different
websites like the
particular website that I am doing, they will place a (back) link to
mine.
This is
one of the most important optimization factors for a website to
Do well in all the search engines.
Yahoo and MSN pick up every single back link that points to your
website.
Google back links are much harder to get than
general back links on other
search engines. They look for top quality links that point back to
your site,
the criteria for getting a Google back link is... “a back link that
is related to your
website via its own keywords or file extension” or “a high page rank
website link”.
Google use a special algorithm to calculate backlinks. This
algorithm (mathematical
formula) is kept hidden from the public and
they change this algorithm often to
confuse Professional Internet Marketers.
The higher page rank of the websites (link)
pointing back to your website = the
higher worth of the link.
I. Anchor Text - this is the actual
title of a Back Link that points to my website,
for example, if I submitted the
www.riselikeaphoenix.com/ site to a New Age
Directory it will ask me for the title of my website (This is known
as Anchor
Text). It will also ask for my web address, description, email
address and
Subject Category. The Title that I type in
maybe “Rise Like A Phoenix
Channelling”. This would be my actual anchor text that gives
me a Link -
Back to My Website. When submitting your website to any type of
directory etc, make
sure that you select a category that relates to your keywords.
Always vary the anchor text that you use. For example “Rise Like
a Phoenix
Ascended Masters - Channeling”, “Channeling”, “Phoenix
Channeling” –
make sure that your main keywords are placed somewhere in the anchor
text, which I have highlighted in bold to make the point.
